Effectiveness of Green Betel Leaf Extract (Piper betle L.) to Inhibit the Growth of the fungus Colletotrichum sp. The Cause of Anthracnose Disease in Apples. Anthracnose disease caused by the fungus Colletotrichum sp. is an important post-harvest disease of apples in Indonesia. Therefore, it is required to control the diseases in an environmentally friendly way, one of which is by using botanical pesticides. Betel leaf is one of the plants whose extract can be used as a botanical fungicide. This study aims to test the effectiveness of green betel leaf extract against the fungus Colletotrichum sp. that causes anthracnose disease in apples. The colony test used 8 concentrations, namely 0.8%, 0.16%, 0.24%, 0.32%, 0.40%, 0.48%, 0.56%, 0.64% and control. The in vivo test uses 5 concentrations, namely 0.4%, 0.6%, 0.8%, 1%, 1.2% and control. The results showed that the colony test of green betel leaf extract with a concentration of 0.48% was able to significantly suppressed the growth of Colletotrichum sp. on PDA media, which means that it is possible to use as a botanical fungicide. On in vivo test, green betel leaf extract at a concentration of 1.2% was able to inhibit the growth of the colony Colletorichum sp and able to suppress anthracnose disease in apples by 64.07% compared to control.
