Effect of Neem and Rice Husk Biochar on The Growth of Pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.). To meet the Nitrogen requirement for plants, farmers usually apply Urea fertiliser which provides a single N nutrient. N is a nutrient that is easily available to plants, but is also quickly deficient. The process of changing ammonium into nitrite which is toxic to plants through the process of nitrification is caused by soil microbial activity. Neem plants can suppress nitrifying bacteria because of its antimicrobial properties (azadirachtin), while biochar can retain nitrogen in the form of ammonium. Neem was shown to inhibit nitrification, helping to slow down the activity of bacteria responsible for denitrification, thus reducing the loss of urea from the soil. This study used a one-factor Randomised Group Design consisting of control treatment, Urea, rice husk biochar, neem leaves (powder), neem seeds (powder), urea + neem leaves, urea + neem seeds, urea + rice husk biochar, urea + neem leaves + rice husk biochar, and urea + neem seeds + rice husk biochar. The results of variance analysis showed that the treatments gave results that had a very significant effect on plant height, a significant effect on the number of leaves, and no significant effect on leaf chlorophyll content (SPAD).
