Abstract

Composite offer advantages such as lightweight properties, corrosion resistence, durability, and affordability.
One natural fiber that can be utilized in composite manufacturing is sisal fiber. Sisal fiber is commonly used as a
composite reinforcement due to its excellent mechanical streght and abudant availability. This study was
conducted using sisal fiber-reinforced epoxy composites with varying fiber orientations, 0º, 90º, 0º and 90º, 45º
and 135º. The testing method applied included a (3) three-point bending test based on ASTM D790-03 and
(Scanning Electron Microscopy) (SEM) test. Bases on the bending test results, the composite with 0º sisal fibre
orientation exhabited the highest average maximum bending stress of 53.87088 Mpa. In contrast, the 90º fiber
orientation configuration yielded the lowest bending stress value of 46.52351 Mpa. In terms of strain, the 0º and
90º sisal fiber orientation achieved the highest average value of 3.33%, while the lowest value of 2.86% was
observed in the 90º fiber orientation. For elastic modul, the 90º fiber orientation showed the lowest value of 1.162
Gpa.
