Abstract

The demand for energy in Indonesia continues to increase while the availability of fossil fuels continues to decline. Therefore,
alternative energy sources that are renewable and environmentally friendly are needed. This research aims to evaluate the thermal
properties and physical characteristics of nyamplung seed oil (Calophyllum inophyllum) as a raw material for biodiesel. The oil is
obtained through an extraction process using a hydraulic press machine, accompanied by a flash point test. Not only that, the
research also analyzed the effect of water content in nyamplung seeds (48%, 68%, 78%) on oil extraction results. It is hoped that
the results of this research can show the ability of nyamplung seed oil as a source of sustainable biodiesel that does not compete
with food sources and can reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Keywords: biodiesel, nyamplung seed oil, thermal properties, flash
point, renewable energy.
