Abstrak

Invasion, Population Dynamics and Damage Intensity of Neotoxoptera formosana (Takahashi) (Hemiptera: Aphididae) on Leek Crops in Bali. Onion aphids are an important invasive pest of leek leaves and stems in many parts of the world.  It has been morphologically identified as N. formosana in Bogor but has never been reported in Bali.  This study aims to evaluate the development of poipulation, percentage of attack and intensity of attack on leek plants at several altitudes in Bali.  This study used survey method with diagonal sampling method.  The results showed indications that the population, percentage and intensity of attack were higher in the medium altitude area (900 masl), compared to the high altitude (1247 masl) and low altitude (1500 masl). The highest population density was 100.8 individuals per clump at 900 masl. Meanwhile, the percentage and intensity of infestation increased with increasing plant age, and peaked at 61% at 900 masl, 46% at 1247 masl, and 40% at 1500 masl. These findings are important information in designing integrated management strategies and technologies for this pest in Indonesia.
