METAFORA KONSEPTUAL KEMATIAN DALAM PERSFEKTIF MASYARAKAT BALI: KAJIAN LINGUISTIK KOGNITIF
Abstract
Language and culture certainly cannot be separated, because language and culture influence each other. Language is used by society to explain and express traditions metaphorically. Meanwhile, culture is a product implemented by society through language, because every word, phrase, or sentence in a language can reflect certain cultural aspects, and the way of speaking often reflects a person's cultural identity. This study aims to discover how the Hindu community in Bali conceptualizes death so that the understanding and evaluation of death can be known. Furthermore, to realize the research objectives, researchers used primary data sources obtained by distributing questionnaires through Google Forms. Data collection methods and techniques using the refer and record methods. Furthermore, through the corpus of linguistic expressions that have been compiled, it is found that death is understood through several concepts such as “kematian adalah siklus perjalanan”, “kematian adalah karma”, “kematian adalah penyatuan”, “kematian adalah kebebasan”, dan “kematian adalah akhir kehidupan”. then, the frequency of death conceptual metaphor data that appears the most is “kematian adalah siklus perjalanan” and the conceptual metaphor of death with the least frequency of occurrence is “kematian adalah akhir kehidupan”
