Music, as a form of profound artistic expression, has a significant influence in conveying various messages to society. One form of this is through the medium of song lyrics, where songs are not only considered mere entertainment, but also as a means to describe, entertain and express individual experiences in depth. Slank, an Indonesian rock band that has made a long history in the country's music scene, has a striking story related to drugs. However, their journey has experienced significant changes since 2000 when they declared themselves free from drug addiction. Since then, Slank has not only been active in creating music, but also in campaigning for anti-drug messages, even being appointed as an anti-drug ambassador by BNN RI in 2015. This study's overarching goal is to better understand how Slank's "Gara Gara Kamu" conveys anti- drug messages in its lyrics. This study uses the semiotic theory of Ferdinand de Saussure, which places an emphasis on the signifier and the signified, to analyze the data. Researchers were able to delve into the song lyrics' indicated meanings thanks to the descriptive qualitative technique that applied a constructivist paradigm approach.According to the findings, the anti drug message is presented clearly and forcefully in the lyrics of the song "Gara Gara Kamu" via the use of signifiers and signifieds. By means of semiotic researc, researchers can identify how the message is represented in the context of the song. Thus, this research makes an important contribution in understanding the role of music, especially song lyrics, as a medium for conveying important social messages in society.
