Social media has become a daily necessity for interaction and serves various functions in fulfilling individual needs. One platform currently gaining significant public attention is TikTok. Its massive use enables anyone to become a creator, encouraging users to express creativity and share meaningful moments globally. A recent phenomenon attracting attention on TikTok is the emergence of LGBTQ+ content, which showcases their daily lives, relationships, and intimacy (non-educational) as a means of gaining freedom and expressing identity in adapting to the social environment. This study aims to explore Gen Z's understanding and interpretation of non-educational LGBTQ+ couple content on TikTok (Study on the Communication Forum of the OSIS SMA/SMK/MA Denpasar City). The research uses Stuart Hall’s reception analysis, a descriptive qualitative method, a constructivist paradigm, and a phenomenological approach. Through interviews, Gen Z's interpretations are categorized into Dominant, Negotiated, and Oppositional Positions. Of the 6 informants selected through purposive sampling, 4 are in the Oppositional Position, 1 in the Negotiated Position, and 1 in the Dominant Position. These findings indicate that Gen Z is not a homogeneous group in responding to digital social issues but rather a complex and diverse entity in interpreting media messages, making generalization inappropriate.
