Abstract

Tragedy in football is nothing new for football lovers in Indonesia. One of the cases that became the public spotlight was the Kanjuruhan Tragedy which occurred on October 01, 2022 at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang. The Kanjuruhan tragedy caused so many casualties that it became the world'sspotlight. The Kanjuruhan tragedy became an issue that was widely reported in various media, including online media. This research aims to find out and describe the framing of the Kanjuruhan Tragedy coverage by Kompas.com on October 02, 2022. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with Robert N. Entman's framing analysis method. The data source of this research is Kompas.com online news on October 02, 2022. The result of this research analysis is that the framing carried out by Kompas.com to form public opinion on the Kanjuruhan Tragedy is divided into three major issues by presenting the news on these issues repeatedly. Based on the analysis, the framing carried out by Kompas.com succeeded in attracting the attention of the public and the government as a whole so that it was considered to have a contribution in encouraging the judicial process and the resolution of the Kanjuruhan Football Tragedy.
