Self-compassion is a behavior that applies care and kindness towards oneself when facing various difficulties in life or towards shortcomings in oneself and has the understanding that suffering, failure, and shortcomings are part of everyone's life. Hindia created a song entitled “Mata Air” as an invitation for listeners to accept past events or traumas experienced rather than judging themselves in the midst of the rampant standardization of life. This research aims to explain the meaning that is implied through the lyrics of Hindia's song “Mata Air” in correlation with the representation of self-compassion that wants to be displayed. This research uses a qualitative approach with the theory of representation from Stuart Hall, and Roland Barthes' semiotic theory. The results of this study describe self-compassion or applying compassion which consists of three aspects, namely self-kindness (kindness towards oneself), mindfulness (full awareness of current experiences), and common humanity (universal humanity), described from individuals in enjoying their own time, finding the meaning of life in their own way, seeing that not only themselves experience negative or positive emotions because failure or sadness must have been experienced by every individual, and realizing that bad things in life arelearning because the source of recovery comes from oneself.
