ANALISIS CAMPUR KODE PADA TUTURAN NYOMAN PAUL DALAM VIDEO YOUTUBE NGOPLING “NYOMAN PAUL” INDONESIAN IDOL

Abstrak

The mother tongue, as a fundamental part of cultural identity, is also considered a vehicle for transmitting cultural values from one generation to the next. However, along with the development of digital media, like YouTube, language use has changed significantly. Speakers in this case increasingly use code-mixing between regional and national languages, as seen in the Ngopling program, which combines Balinese and Indonesian. Thus, a dilemma arises between the difficulty of maintaining the mother tongue and the potential for revitalizing it in the era of digital modernization. This study aimed to analyze the types and factors causing code-mixing in Nyoman Paul's speech in the YouTube video NGOPLING "NYOMAN PAUL" INDONESIAN IDOL. The method used in this research was qualitative. In collecting data, this study employed the listening method, utilizing two techniques: listening to the video content and noting down utterances that incorporate code-mixing. The data were analyzed using the interactive data analysis method by Miles and Huberman, which involved the following steps: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The presentation of the data analysis was done using an informal method. The theories of Muysken (2000), which discuss code mixing, and Nababan (1993), which examine the factors causing code mixing, were the two main theories used in this study. The results of this study indicate that Nyoman Paul's speech contains code-mixing between Balinese, as his mother tongue, and Indonesian. This code mixing includes insertion (15), alternation (2), and congruent lexicalization (5), with the insertion type being the most dominant. The code-mixed utterances were influenced by factors of casualness and the absence of appropriate expressions. Code mixing is employed as a bilingual communication strategy that does not alter the mother tongue but demonstrates an effort to adapt and maintain cultural identity in the digital modernization era.
