Representasi Quarter Life Crisis dalam Film Dua Hati Biru

Abstrak

This study examines the representation of quarter life crisis in the film Dua Hati Biru using Charles Sanders
Pierce's semiotic approach. Quarter life crisis is a psychosocial phenomenon experienced by individuals aged 20-30
years, characterized by uncertainty in determining life direction, career, relationships, and financial independence.
Through qualitative descriptive methods with a constructivist paradigm, this research analyzes signs, objects, and
interpretants in selected scenes that represent this phenomenon. The findings reveal eight main aspects representing
quarter life crisis: confusion about self-potential, leaving parents' home, financial problems, employment issues,
dilemmas in job hunting, workplace conflicts, misalignment between work and personal idealism, and conflicts in
determining the future. The representation is shaped not only by narrative and character development but also by the
film's production context and Indonesia's socio-cultural conditions. This study contributes to communication studies,
particularly film semiotics, and enhances public understanding of quarter life crisis experienced by young adults in
Indonesia.
