Identification of Landscape Elements in Parking Area in the Traditional Village of Tenganan Pegringsingan, Bali

Abstract

As a Bali Aga village, Tenganan Pegringsingan Traditional Village possesses strong cultural tourism appeal, which requires the availability of adequate facilities, including parking areas. This study aims to inventory the physical conditions, functions, and hardscape and softscape elements of the parking areas, as well as their management mechanisms. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach using an exploratory method. Data collection techniques included field observations, documentation, interviews, and a literature review. Data collection through observations, documentation, and interviews was conducted during a single site visit on June 6, 2026. The results of the study indicate that the parking area covers approximately 3,895 m² and is equipped with supporting facilities, including a gazebo, restrooms, signage, sinks, drainage, sidewalks, planter boxes, and vehicle circulation areas. The vegetation found consists of various types of trees, shrubs, herbs, and ground cover, such as Golden Ketapang (Terminalia mantaly), Ketapang (Terminalia catappa), Casuarina (Casuarina equisetifolia), White Frangipani (Plumeria alba), Blushing Frangipani (Plumeria pudica), Tabebuia (Tabebuia sp.), Mengkudu (Morinda citrifolia), Srikaya (Annona squamosa), Aren (Arenga pinnata), Kelapa Gading (Cocos nucifera var. eburnea), Puring (Codiaeum variegatum), Pisang-pisangan (Heliconia rostata), Rumput Payung (Cyperus alternifolius), and Miana (Coleus scutellarioides). The parking area of the Tenganan Pegringsingan Traditional Village is a vital public facility, managed entirely by the Traditional Village with infrastructure support from the local government. The design of this area integrates modern elements with the Tri Hita Karana philosophy and awig-awig regulations to ensure environmental sustainability and adequate parking facilities for tourists.
