Abstract

This research was initiated by the evaluation of an existing boarding house provider website, which obtained a System Usability Scale (SUS) score of 68,18 from 15 respondents who had used the website to search for boarding house information. To address this, the study employs the Design Thinking method to redesign the boarding house website. The primary objectives are to measure the functional levels of the website following the Design Thinking process and to compare its functionality before and after the redesign. Additionally, the System Usability Scale (SUS) was utilized for testing, while the TF-IDF algorithm and Cosine Similarity were implemented to calculate document similarity for the recommendation feature. The developed website prototypes achieved successive SUS scores of 72 and 75,5. The final score met the system's target for providing an above-average user experience, categorized as “acceptable” in the acceptability ranges, “C” on the grade scale, and “excellent” in the adjective ratings. The application of these methods significantly improved the website's usability, as evidenced by the substantial increase in the System Usability Scale (SUS) scores.
