Abstract

Stigma toward People Living with HIV (PLHIV) remains a major challenge in HIV prevention and care efforts in Indonesia, both in the form of external stigma from the environment and self-stigma experienced by individuals. This community engagement program aimed to reduce self-stigma among PLHIV and strengthen family support through psychoeducation and joint dialogue activities. The program was conducted in Denpasar City and involved 30 participants consisting of PLHIV and their family members. Three main activities were implemented: (1) Joint Dialogue between PLHIV and Families, (2) Psychoeducation for PLHIV, and (3) Psychoeducation for Families. Evaluation was conducted through pre–post tests and feedback questionnaires. The results showed that most participants correctly answered post-test questions and provided positive evaluations of the activities. Participants reported that the program enhanced their understanding, improved communication, and increased self-confidence. Moreover, it strengthened interpersonal networks between PLHIV and their families in a supportive and open atmosphere. This program demonstrates that psychoeducational and participatory dialogue approaches are effective in enhancing understanding, fostering positive attitudes, and strengthening social support for PLHIV and their families.
